had the most spirited and creative skit. Each day was a different theme for dress: Jersey Day, Tacky/Nerd Day, TV/Movie Character Day, Decade Day, and Blue & Gold Day.

Cross Country
Congratulations to the WCCS cross country team for a great season! Our varsity boys finished the regular season UNDEFEATED!  We hosted the MAC cross country championship Thursday, October 15, at Westminster Park. Amber Johnston won the 6th Grade race, Hayden Childress (9th grade) won the Junior Varsity race, Cody Duvall (12th grade) won the Varsity boy's race, and Caitlin Selle (12th grade) won the Varsity girl's race. The Boy's Varsity Team (made up of Cody Duvall, Jonathan Eastridge, Joe Collins, Nathan Marshall, Stephen Vanderlip, JD Wentworth, Zach McCutchen, Hayden Childress, Luke Basha, and Dalton Seals) were the conference champions!  All of our runners are winners, and we are proud of each member of the team! The state meet will be held in Greensboro on Friday, October 30th, and we know we will again be represented by the best student athletes in the conference.
Indian Club
Your Indian Club Booster has been hard at work since the summer designing a membership brochure, working with Team Parents to staff concessions and admissions, soliciting WCCS sponsorships, coordinating with the PTF, refining our Spirit Wear, and producing a Fall Sports Program.  You have supported the efforts of the IC by purchasing memberships, working in concessions, buying personal ads and patronizing our Concessions during games. Please continue to look for ways to assist the IC as we move into Basketball season.  We welcome all willing to serve our student athletes.  As the disciple Mark put it, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45
Our collective progress has enabled the IC to whittle away at the "Wish List" submitted by coaches via the Athletic Department.  We have purchased video/editing equipment, the largest item (expense wise).  The Football Coaching staff is already utilizing the equipment.  It will benefit all sports, but is especially helpful to WCCS Football due to the filming requirements/exchanges between opposing teams.  We anticipate being able to purchase additional items in the weeks to come. If you would like to receive up-to-date information or would like to join the IC, please respond to theresamckenrick@msn.com

09-10 Mock Trial
I am excited to announce that there will be a Mock Trial Team this year.  This opportunity is open to all students in grades 7-12.  Sponsored by the South Carolina Bar Law Related Education Division,,, "The goals of this program are, first and foremost, to educate students about the basis of our American judicial system and the mechanics of litigation.  The program also serves to build bridges of mutual cooperation, respect and support between the community and the legal profession.  Through participation in the mock trial program, students will increase their basic skills such as listening, speaking, writing, reading and analyzing."  The regional competition will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010.

We are in need of one or two members of the legal profession to assist us as coaches.  We meet every Tuesday from 3:15 - 5:00 pm in Room 11 on the Catawba Campus.  For more information contact Debbie Holford dholford@wccs.org
