The Westminster Catawba Christian School Board of Trustees is pleased to
announce the hiring of a new headmaster, John Max Blumenstein, Ph.D. Dr.
Blumenstein comes to us from Greenwood Christian School in Greenwood, SC where
he has served as their headmaster since 1997. Prior to this position he
served as the minister of education and administration for Calvary Chapel
(the church that was instrumental in the establishment of Greenwood Christian
School). He is an ordained minister and an adjunct professor of New
Testament studies at the college level. Additionally, he has written for
various publications and done extensive research. In spite of all his
academic and scholarly endeavors he has been involved in, Dr. Blumenstein has
found time to be an active volunteer in his church and community as well.
John and his wife Sarah have been married since 1979. Sarah is a
registered nurse and has worked part time at a family physician's training
center there in Greenwood. They have five beautiful children:
Jonathan "Harv" (20), a student at Clemson University; Lynn (17) a
senior in high school; Maria (15) a 10th grade student; Timothy (12) a 7th grade
student; and Katherine (9) a 4th grade student. They should be joining us
early in the summer.
Dr. Blumenstein shared the following with the search committee: "I
have a strong commitment to Christian education and to the vocation of Christian
school leadership. Also, I am excited about what Christian school
education has accomplished and will yet accomplish for the glory of God, the
edification of the church, and the advancement of the kingdom." No
doubt we all feel fortunate to have been led to the Blumenstein family. We
trust you will join us in welcoming them to their new home and the Westminster
Catawba Christian School community.
Mrs. Dawna Sapp has served as upper school principal for the past six years. She has been involved in Christian education since 1993 and 31 years overall. "A Christian school enables us to place Christ as the focal point in every facet of the Christian life. This school is special to me because of the students. They have good hearts and want to excel. The personal interaction and the small class size help us to get to know each other well. It's also nice working with Christian families who are involved with their students' lives."
Mrs. Sandy Jolly will act as Interim Principal for the Westminster Campus until
a permanent replacement for Mrs. Kathy Troutman has been found.
Mr. Tad Dance is in his second year as business operations manager for WCCS. He sees the oversight of the school's finances as a ministry to help the school exercise good stewardship. Mr. Dance has three children that attend WCCS and believes "WCCS offers a quality, Christian education and a partnership with families in educating and raising their children".
