Hali Christopher is the Director of Fine Arts, High School Theater Director and Multi-Media Teacher. Mrs. Christopher has a rich history working in the community through theater. She serves as the President of the Board of Directors with Rock Hill Community Theatre, is active with Showtime Theatre Company, is an ex-officio member on the Board of the South Carolina Speech and Theatre Association and serves on Board of the York County Arts Council. Additionally, she has been involved with applied theater applications through the Teen Institute, Lexington/Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center, and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division D.A.R.E. program. Through all of these activities, Mrs. Christopher has gained extensive experience as a performer, director, choreographer, costuming, lighting, set design, and make-up.
Mrs. Christopher received her Master of Arts in Theater Production and Design from Southern Oregon University and her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina. In addition to teaching at WCCS, Mrs. Christopher is an Adjunct Professor at Winthrop University. Her professional memberships include International Thespian Society, Metrolina Theater Association, South Carolina Theater Association, and Educational Theater Association. She is also active in her church, Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, working with a variety of creative ministry teams. Mrs. Christopher lives in Rock Hill, SC with her husband Joe, and is the mother of a WCCS alumna.
Dr. John Furrow is the Band Director at WCCS. Dr. Furrow came to WCCS in 2012.
Dr. Furrow received his Doctor of Philosophy in Christian School Leadership and Master of Education in Administration from Columbia International University. He received his Bachelor of Science in Bible and Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Philadelphia Biblical University. He and his wife currently live in Rock Hill, SC.
Alyssa Hardy serves as the Upper School Visual Arts Teacher at WCCS. She is a WCCS alumna from the Class of 2006 and took art for many years at WCCS. Mrs. Hardy has experience with a variety of artistic media, including practical applications. She also has extensive experience as an art gallery educator, director and curator.
Mrs. Hardy graduated from Erskine College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts. She lives in Rock Hill, SC with her husband and is actively involved in her local church.
Melanie O'Neal is the Middle School and High School Choral Director and teaches general music for 1st-5th grade at WCCS. Before coming to WCCS in 2010, Mrs. O’Neal previously taught music at Charlotte Country Day, Rock Hill School District, and Oakland Day School. In addition to her teaching ministry, Mrs. O’Neal served as pianist at Oakland Baptist Church for 32 years, is a regular accompanist for the Festival By the Sea youth choir in Myrtle Beach, SC, and served as the accompanist for the South Carolina All-State Choir in 2008.
Mrs. O’Neal received her Bachelor of Music Education from Winthrop University. She holds professional memberships in the National Association for Music Education, South Carolina Music Educators Association, and the South Carolina Choral Directors Association. Mrs. O’Neal lives in the Rock Hill, SC area with her husband and is the mother to 3 WCCS alumni.
Julie Stanford is the Elementary Art Teacher at WCCS. Mrs. Stanford joined the WCCS community in 2011. She is a professional member of the National Art Education Association.
Mrs. Stanford received her Master of Arts in Teaching with a focus on Early Childhood Education and her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Fine Art from Winthrop University. She and her husband are members of Westminster Presbyterian Church and reside in Rock Hill with their three daughters.
Jen Starr is originally from Michigan, where she attended Wayne State University in Detroit. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree. After teaching two years of elementary music classes in Michigan, Jen moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where she met my husband, and was a band director for 9 years at Polo Park Middle School. She took a break from teaching to have our two children, and then we moved to Rock Hill. While teaching six years of Kindermusik classes in Rock Hill, I also began teaching Early Childhood Music classes at local preschools, and has continued to teach private piano lessons from her home. Jenn is excited to be a part of the WCCS team this year teaching the 2’s, 3K, 4K, and Kindergarten music classes!
