Important COVID-19 Return to Play Dates & Guidelines
*Updated August 28, 2020
The North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) has approved Fall sports returning to play with the following guidelines as stated below.
*Note: An alternative plan was offered that gave schools the option to participate in Fall sports beginning in February. WCCS, along with other schools in our Metrolina Athletic Conference (MAC) will not exercise this option. We have elected to begin Fall sports this Fall.
Low Risk Sports (Cross Country, Girls Golf, and Girls Tennis)
May begin interscholastic contests the week of September 8, 2020.
Moderate Risk Sports (Boys Soccer and Girls Volleyball)
May begin interscholastic contests the week of September 14, 2020.
*Note: Previously, both Low and Moderate Risk Sports were approved to begin full practice the week of August 10, 2020.
WCCS Extra-Curricular Eligibility
To participate in extra-curricular activities for WCCS, students should be in attendance in person.
Post-Season and Championships
The NCISAA is currently working on an adjusted State Play-off format.
The MAC is planning to host adjusted versions of Conference Tournaments in various sports and is working on those plans now.
Exact (new) dates are yet to be confirmed, but we anticipate the post-season tournaments taking place over the last three weeks of October, with MAC Conference Tournaments beginning the week of October 12, 2020.
No Fans (Currently)
Unfortunately, the current guidelines do not allow for fans to be present within venues that are hosting athletic contests. The NCISAA has assured is membership that they will be monitoring and re-visiting this issue. It is everyone's desire that we welcome our families and student bodies back to competition venues soon!
Transportation for Athletic Events
WCCS will provide transportation (via our buses) at 50% capacity, and via approved parent drivers. If you are willing to drive student-athletes to games, please contact Lisa Gold in the WCCS Business Office, and let her know you would like to be a school approved driver.
Student-athletes will be checked for temperature prior to leaving campus for an away interscholastic contest. Anyone testing positive for a temperature will not be allowed to travel that day. Their parents will be called and asked to come pick them up at WCCS.
