Educating students to bless our world as disciples of Jesus Christ

Darlene Decker

"I love working here because it is where God is. I feel like I am in church on Mondays! The people here are great...always happy and smiling. It's like I'm part of a loving family."

Our lower school has been blessed by the hard work and joyful presence of Ms. Darlene Decker this year! She has been serving as the day porter for that campus, disinfecting high touch areas throughout the day to help keep our school environment healthy and safe! Read on to find out more about Ms. Darlene and some of the special moments she has had at our school already this year!

Tell us about your family and any hobbies you enjoy:

I love spending time with all my grandkids. I have six granddaughters and two grandsons. Now, I even have a great grandson - my heart! I enjoy camping, boating, motorcycle riding, fishing and boating in the ocean.

Tell us something we would be surprised to know about you:

I like to ride on long trips on motorcycles. I'm a great grandma!

What are your job responsibilities?

I am a day porter on the lower campus. I clean and disinfect high touch areas like door handles, tables, and desks. I also take out the trash, sweep, mop, and vacuum for the school.

Why do you love working at WCCS?

I love working here because it is where God is. I feel like I am in church on Mondays! The people here are great...always happy and smiling. It' s like I'm part of a loving family.

What is one word you would use to describe the school? Tell us why you chose that word.

Joy. It fills me with joy to be here. It seems like everyone here is filled with love and joy. The students and teachers are always kind and caring.

For staff, how do you believe God has uniquely equipped you for your position here at WCCS?

I believe that God has made me a very caring and hard worker. I like to know that I do my job completely and on time, the best I can without complaining.

We know you are new to our campus, but if you can, share a moment from your time here at WCCS that stands out as something you never want to forget.

Some of the special teachers I have met since I have started here have prayed with me and for me. They spend time talking to me and praying with me about my great grandson who was born 2 months early. He is now at home with his mommy at 2 months old!
